  1. Spot on re the lens mount choice. I would love to have this to compliment my Sonys but not have to get any new glass. If they did that, I could still use my old Canon EF lenses too. More options! Canon's long flange distance is so limiting!

  2. aside from the rarified world of the big screen…most filmmakers here shoot for the small screen. 6k is overkill, limited to proprietary edit platform, limited lens options…even at an exceptional price point, it doesn't really make sense, imo, for most indie filmmakers unless perhaps you're already a card carrying member of the BM community.

  3. Caleb, you NAILED it with your criticisms. Blackmagic Design (and third parties) could have done SO MUCH with the EF flange distance if they hadn't baked it into the body. Keep up the great work!

  4. The cinematography/photography community is so toxical on here and it's funny how people dislike someone's own opinion because it's different from theirs. Caleb is one of the most unbiased review on the internet you can find. Give him a break.

  5. How is there a market for this product? Who needs to shoot in 6K, and doesn't work on a large, multi-crew production using cinema cameras (red/arri etc).

I shoot 4K sometimes, but as safety and overkill. You'd want to be delivering in 4K and still need overshoot…so again, big studios?

It's an honest question, can someone explain what I've missed?

  6. Huge opportunity missed about the mount/ flange distance. If Blackmagic comes out with another version with their own custom mount they should call it the Magic Mount.

  7. YOU ARE SUCH THE MORON OUT OF THE WHOLE CAMERA-CINE-VID YOUTUBE BUNCH: YOU STARTED OUT YEARS AGO DOING PHYSICAL HACKING OF CAMERAS, BUT FOR THE STUPIDEST REASONS, A LOT TO-DO FOR NO GAIN AT ALL, AND THEN YOU USED TO MAKE A BIG GRAY COLORED RECTANGULAR BULGE W/EPOXY PASTE STICKING OUT THE SIDE OF A CAMERA. THEN YOU WENT APE SHIT OVER THE BMPCC 4K, DOING EVERYTHING WITH IT, INCLUDING MOUNTING AN ANIMAL CAGE ON IT. OH, AND ORDER YOURSELF UP SOME MORE TOTALLY USELESS PRE-4K LENSES FROM THE PAST WITH A DULL IMAGE, A WHOLE SET OF THEM, JUST SO YOU CAN TALK YOUR PIMPLE HEAD OFF ABOUT HOW CHEAP YOU GOT THEM. AND OF COURSE B/C THEY SUCK YOU CAN HARP ABOUT HOW THE IMAGE IS NOT ALL YOU GET A LENS FOR. WITH YOUR PATH AND TRAJECTORY SO FAR, YOU SHOULD BE HANGING BY YOUR FEET OUT YOUR WINDOW FOR ATTENTION, THAT'D BE HE NEXT LOGICAL THING FOR YOU, SOUNDS DUMB ENOUGH FOR YOU TO DO.

  8. No No No disagree, they have chosen the best mount, the EF mount and the best glass out there and all those vintage lenses on the EF mount just brilliant, I love Canon glass and this camera is just perfect for me, well done Blackmagic for this and keeping the price low, placed my order no gimmicks no see what I have got but sheer video quality at an amazing price, thank you

  9. I was thinking that they should've done E-Mount. But, that custom mount idea is fantastic. They should do that for all their future cameras. They already have their custom codec, cameras and NLE, so why not custom mount also.

  10. I think the reason they went with EF is because a lot of Red Users use EF. Get an L series lens and be done with it. This is coming from a Nikon F mount guy here. This is kind of a silly "flaw".

  11. Exactly! Thank you for mentioning the mount problem. Im not interested in this unit only because of this mount. Sony E Mount would have been perfect.
Ill wait for the Panasonic 8K releases for 2020.

  12. Hey! I would really want to grow my channel. I’m only 11 but other young YouTubers like ‘Ryan’s Toys Review’ have so many subscribers, views and get paid or have lots of income. I would really like to know what the key is to making my channel popular and getting paid too. My niche is generally doing vlogs. It would be really nice if you could help:) Thanks!

  13. People railing on the length of the video: blame YouTube. Content less than 10 minutes for these creators is way less favorable to the algorithm. So if these content creators are going to make a living and continue being able to deliver really good channels, WHICH THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO, deal with 10-minute videos. End of story.

  14. The mount you're looking for is exactly what they put on the Ursa Mini Pro. You can switch between EF, PL, B4 and F mount. My guess is that they want you to pay the $ for the higher end camera for that premium feature.
